The heads of Turkmenistan and Pakistan discussed further interstate dialogue


Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Pakistani President Arif Alvi had a telephone conversation on Tuesday. The focus was on the results of the elections held in Turkmenistan, as a result of which Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected the new president of the country. At the same time, the Turkmen leader plans to continue his active work as chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh (upper house of parliament).
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the Pakistani President for his great personal contribution to the development of interstate dialogue and constructive cooperation.
Arif Alvi also congratulated the elected head of Turkmenistan over the phone, wishing Serdar Berdimuhamedov great success in the highest state post.
In response, Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to friendship and brotherhood with Pakistan. The parties expressed confidence that the constructive cooperation established in recent years will be worthy of continuation in the near future.
