Central Asian Climate Change Information Platform will start operation by 2021

The Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Mitigation Program for the Aral Sea Basin (CAMP4ASB), with the support of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) and the World Bank, will launch a regional climate information platform in 17 months, announced at the II Central Asian Conference on Climate change project manager Irina Bekmirzaeva. Today the project is at the concept development stage and in 5 months it will enter a phase of technical implementation. The regional platform will work as a base: collect data from national hydrometeorological centers, field examples, carry out the synthesis and analysis of information and distribute it to mobile devices. Anyone wishing to make a personal contribution to the preservation of nature and the protection of the planet from climate change will be able to apply this information. Platform developers especially hope for the interest of politicians, scientists, climate decision makers, as well as farmers and entrepreneurs whose activities directly affect IC. The platform will have feedback so that it will be able to conduct a productive dialogue and adapt general recommendations to the needs of specific regions and economic conditions. The launch of the regional platform is aimed at strengthening the knowledge base and capacity to combat climate change and promote bilateral and multilateral dialogue and cooperation in Central Asia to respond effectively to environmental challenges.
