The Turkmen delegation held a series of negotiations in Moscow


The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, during his official visit to Moscow, met with Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
During the conversation, they discussed the preparation of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation, as well as the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia in May 2022 in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat. The upcoming event will be of great importance for strengthening friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between the states of the region and the Russian Federation, in providing a legislative framework for partnership in the long term.

Grigory Karasin stressed that bilateral cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan continues to develop progressively. Cooperation is successfully carried out in the educational sphere, cultural, humanitarian fields, inter-parliamentary relations.
Rashid Meredov noted the existence of an open, friendly, and constructive dialogue between the two countries. He informed about the national program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for the next 30 years.
The topic of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Turkmenistan was touched upon, and a plan of events is being developed that will be held under the sign of this anniversary.
The issues of preparations for the 6th Caspian Summit in Turkmenistan and the 2nd Caspian Economic Forum in Russia in 2022 were also raised.

Rashid Meredov also met with Mikhail Petrakov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Delimitation and Demarcation of the Russian Federation Border with Neighboring CIS Member States, Head of the Russian Delegation for Multilateral Negotiations on the Caspian Sea.
At the talks, preparations for the VI Summit of the Caspian states, which will be held in 2022 in Turkmenistan, were discussed. It was stated that the interaction between Turkmenistan and Russia makes a significant constructive contribution to the development of mutually beneficial partnership in the Caspian Sea, the transformation of this region into one of the centers of economic, transport and logistics, energy, and investment cooperation in Eurasia.
In addition, Meredov met with Ilhom Nematov, Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee. Among the topics discussed was the organization of the work of the mission of observers from the CIS for the upcoming March 12 early presidential elections in Turkmenistan.
During the visit, consultations were also held between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the two countries in accordance with the signed program of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
