The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ankara held a briefing on the results of the development of Turkmenistan in the political, economic and cultural spheres in 2021.

Turkmen Ambassador Ishankuli Amanlyev, speaking at the briefing, noted that the country celebrated the 30th anniversary of independence with great enthusiasm.

Despite a period of global recession due to global economic difficulties, Turkmenistan managed to maintain the growth rate of gross domestic product (6.2%) at the same level as in the previous year, thanks to the measures and efforts taken, the ambassador said.

Recalling that Turkmenistan ranks 4th in the world in terms of natural gas production, Amanlyev noted that in 2021 the country reached its production level of 83 billion 772.9 million cubic meters.

He also gave figures on the harvest of the most important agricultural crops: last year, Turkmen farmers produced 1 million 485 thousand tons of wheat and 1 million 280 thousand tons of cotton.

Amanlyev spoke about the opening of new social, transport, industrial facilities and infrastructure facilities that took place in 2021 throughout Turkmenistan, as well as plans for 2022.

The briefing was attended by Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey Yalcin Topcu, Chairman of the Turkey-Turkmenistan Friendship Group, Deputy of the ruling Turkish Development and Justice Party Ibrahim Aydemir, as well as many guests and members of the press.
