Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced his decision to focus on the post of Chairman of the People's Council
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is also the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the State Security Council, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and head of the Halk Maslakhaty (People's Council) Milli Gengesha, announced his decision to focus on the post of Chairman of the People's Council.
The head of state stated this at an extraordinary meeting of the People's Council in Ashgabat on Friday, the Watan news program of the Turkmen State Radio and Television reported.
Berdimuhamedov made this decision based on the fact that at the present stage, the state administration of Turkmenistan should be transferred to young leaders. They, in turn, must be brought up in a spiritual environment, and in accordance with the high requirements of modernity, he stressed.
In his speech, the head of Turkmenistan recalled that he had been president of the country for 15 years. From now on, he intends to use his vast political and life experience as chairman of the People's Council.
