Speaking at the CA-India summit on Thursday, President Berdimuhamedov proposed incorporating the Turkmenbashi port into the structure of the North-South international transport corridor. Moreover, the territory of Turkmenistan provides the shortest route to the Central Asian states to the Persian Gulf and further to the Indian ports.

In this context, the Turkmen leader supported the idea put forward by the Indian side of the inclusion of the port of Chabahar in the same structure.

The Turkmen leader also spoke about the urgency of establishing a joint working group, whose activities will allow to solve the problems of unimpeded movement of goods between the Central Asian states and India.

India's official accession to the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar transport corridor agreement provides additional prospects for all participants in the project.

As a result of the 1st Summit of the India-Central Asia Delhi Declaration, there is a separate paragraph, which states: Adoption by Turkmenistan of the UN General Assembly Resolution A / RES / 75/313 "Strengthening links between all modes of transport to ensure stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus pandemic 19"

India and the Central Asian member states of the North-South International Transport Corridor (INSTC), as well as the Ashgabat Agreement on the International Transport and Transit Corridor, have called on other Central Asian countries to consider joining these initiatives.

"The parties supported India's proposal to include Chabahar port and noted Turkmenistan's proposal to include Turkmenbashi port in the INSTC. They also noted Turkmenistan's proposal to organize an international ministerial transport conference in cooperation with the United Nations for developing countries that do not have access to the sea to be held in Turkmenistan in April 2022,” the document said.
