Turkmen export to Turkey increased by 50% - Ambassador

Export of Turkmenistan to Turkey for 11 months of 2021 increased by 50%, amounting to more than 49 million dollars. Turkey's exports to Turkmenistan during this period increased by 27.2%, and the total trade turnover between the two countries during this time is equal to 1 billion 911 million dollars.
These figures were announced by Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Togan Oral at a press conference on Wednesday. He noted that the increase in the volume of mutual trade was facilitated by the use of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, the importance of which increased during the pandemic, and noted its great potential for increasing cargo flows in the region.
He also spoke about the importance of road freightage and air traffic, which experienced the difficulties of quarantine restrictions. Nevertheless, Turkish Airlines performed 26 flights between the two countries during this period. The resumption of regular flights between Turkmenistan and Turkey is expected in the near future, the ambassador said.
During meeting with Turkmen journalists, Togan Oral summed up the development of relations between the two countries in 2021, which he called "historic".
The diplomat mentioned the high-level visits between Turkmenistan and Turkey held last year, describing their results and the progress of bilateral agreements. Among the most important events is the exchange of visits of heads of state: President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Istanbul in November, when Turkmenistan became an observer in the Organization of Turkic States, and two weeks later, Recep Tayyip Erdogan's return visit to Ashgabat.
The diplomat expressed gratitude to the Turkmen government for the action of pardon in May 2021, thanks to which a number of Turkish citizens convicted in Turkmenistan had the opportunity to start a new life and celebrated the Muslim holy holiday of Oraza in their homeland, at home.
The Turkish diplomatic mission in Ashgabat officially introduced the new press attaché of the embassy, Hayrettin Bektash, to the local media community. He briefly spoke about his rather rich experience in the media in his homeland and invited his colleagues to an active dialogue, promising all possible assistance in the exchange of relevant information.
During the visit of Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Turkmenistan in November 2021, among the 9 agreements signed by the parties, there were three related to the media, the press officer noted.
Now a correspondent of the Anadolu news agency has been accredited in Ashgabat, where the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) has been operating for many years, and Turkey will be glad to open a representative office of the Turkmen press, Bektash said.
At the press conference, a presentation was made on the use of the national and international name of the country as "Türkiye". (In December 2021, a circular signed by Erdogan was published on the use of the country's name in the international media only as Türkiye instead of the former Turkey - ed. note).
Turkish diplomats also familiarized Turkmen reporters with the Turkish Scholarship Program, in which Turkmen citizens can apply until February 20, 2022.
