Figures provided by the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) show that trade between Afghanistan and the three Central Asian states - Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan - has increased in the current (solar) year.

According to ACCI, this year, Afghanistan has exported $33 million worth of goods to Central Asia, while imports have exceeded $2 billion, TOLOnews reported on Monday, citing ACCI Acting Chairman Mohammad Yunus Mohmand.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance stated that customs revenues increased in the north of the country due to trade and transit from Central Asia to South Asia. “After the (proclamation) of the Islamic Emirate, more than 8,000 trucks have been transporting goods between Central Asia and South Asia through Afghanistan, and we have received customs revenue from this,” said Ahmad Wali Khakmal, a spokesman for the ministry.

ACCI said that this year Afghanistan's imports have declined due to unemployment, poverty and economic problems in the country, which have led to a sharp decrease in demand in the markets.
