The President of Turkmenistan received the new diplomatic representative of London


New British Ambassador Lucia Wilde presented her credentials to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and conveyed greetings from Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Boris Johnson to the Turkmen leader.

During an audience at the presidential palace on Tuesday, Wilde noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which have established a fruitful dialogue during this period and have great opportunities to expand it.
The head of Turkmenistan confirmed the focus on the development of Turkmen-British interaction and described its priorities in the field of politics and economy, legal and environmental spheres.

Particular attention was paid to the creation of transport corridors linking Europe and Asia, and such an increasing trend in international relations as transport diplomacy, where Turkmenistan plays an initiative role, putting forward current proposals for cooperation.
Issues of energy security and new directions of export of Turkmen hydrocarbons were highlighted among the promising areas of the dialogue. A separate topic was the Afghan problem and the promotion of socio-economic recovery in this country, to which Turkmenistan has always demonstrated its commitment in practice.

Turkmenistan and Britain also intend to work together on the environmental and climate agenda. In this regard, the participation of a high-level Turkmen delegation to COP26 in Glasgow was mentioned.
After exchanging views, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Lucia Wilde highlighted the key areas of cooperation, including the fuel and energy complex, trade, industry, agriculture, digital economy and technology, business development, etc.
