Afghanistan and Turkmenistan discuss TAPI gas pipeline in Herat


Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Khadzhiyev arrived in the western Afghan province of Herat to discuss the revitalization of work on the TAPI project, said in a statement Friday, Pajhwok Afghan News reports.
The Herat Chamber of Commerce and Industry said in a statement that Khadzhiev and his accompanying delegation held talks with representatives of the chamber on the TAPI project.
Khadzhiev focused on the gas distribution system in Herat and other cities. Some provinces of Afghanistan will also receive gas through the TAPI pipeline.
Herat's head of commerce Chmaber Mohammad Younis Kazizada said technical issues related to the project should be discussed with the private sector for future cooperation and assistance, Pajhwok reports.
