New UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan presented his credentials to the head of state


On Thursday, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the credentials of the new representative of the UN Children's Fund in Turkmenistan, Mohammad Fayyazi, delegated by UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell.
The head of state and the head of the UNICEF mission in the country discussed the main goals and objectives of the partnership, the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Realization of Children's Rights and other work plans and cooperation programs, including in the field of health and medical diplomacy.

In the conversation, the importance of the Turkmen initiative on the creation of a Regional Center for Epidemiology, Virology and Bacteriology and the construction of a national research and production center of this profile was noted.
Berdimuhamedov thanked UNICEF for active cooperation in the field of maternal and child health, child immunization, in terms of coverage of which Turkmenistan occupies a leading position in Central Asia, and in the fight against infectious diseases. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan, which regularly purchases WHO-certified drugs, has organized compulsory free vaccination of the population.

They also discussed measures to support children with disabilities, the development of a digital educational environment and other areas of successful partnership.
