Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting following a trip to Lebap


President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting on Wednesday following his working trip to the Lebap region, to the Malay field.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Shakhim Abdrakhmanov, head of the country's fuel and energy complex, as well as representatives of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
During the meeting, the director of the Scientific Research Institute of Natural Gas of the State Concern "Turkmengaz" Bayrammyrat Pirniyazov and the head of the State Corporation "Turkmengeology" Merdan Roziev reported. In particular, it was reported on the results of studies in the areas adjacent to the Malay and Naip fields, where hydrocarbon deposits were identified, and plans for their exploratory drilling.
Batyr Amanov, Chairman of the Turkmengaz State Concern, reported on the work to bring the Bagadzhin Liquefied Gas Plant to full capacity, as well as to increase natural gas production by 2 million cubic meters per day.
The meeting touched upon issues of further development of the Galkynysh gas field and the implementation of the project for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.
In the context of energy cooperation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the special importance of Turkmenistan's partnership with China and specifically with the CNPC, expressing gratitude to President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping for his great personal contribution to the development of this interaction.
The Malay gas compressor station, which was commissioned a year ago, plays an important role in transporting Turkmen natural gas to China. As the head of state noted, to date, more than 247 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been produced at the Malay field, while work continues to expand its proven reserves and open gas deposits of lower layers.
Chen Huailong, general director of the CNPC branch in Turkmenistan, speaking at the meeting, said that the corporation, in accordance with the Production Sharing Agreement on the contract territory
Bagtyyarlyk is produced from 137 wells and in 2021, 34 billion cubic meters of natural gas were supplied from Turkmenistan to China.
The commissioning of the Malai gas compressor station a year ago made it possible to provide additional supplies in the winter. In general, more than 320 billion cubic meters of gas have been transported through the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline since 2009.
In addition, in August 2021, a start was made on the construction of three more wells in the Galkynysh field, and CNPC plans to complete this project in 2022.
CNPC and Turkmengaz also outlined a new round of talks to expand cooperation in the gas sector. In the context of the global transition to green energy and the growing role of natural gas in this regard, Turkmenistan occupies an important position in the international energy market, the general director of the CNPC branch noted.
