Global Initiative of Turkmenistan: "Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace"

The Forum "Policy of Peace and Trust - the Basis of International Security, Stability and Development", after the solemn plenary session with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan and the ceremony of signing a package of documents, continued its work in workshops.

Their names speak volumes for the relevance of three different but closely related topics. These are: "Policy of Peace and Trust: Neutrality and Preventive Diplomacy in Peacebuilding", "The Inseparable Link of a Culture of Peace with the Sustainable Development Agenda" and "The Humanitarian Dimension of the Processes of Formation of a Global Culture of Peace and Trust".

At the end of the workshops, the forum participants vividly discussed the speeches of the forum participants.

The discussion also continued during the round table, during which short reports were heard on the results of each of the thematic sessions made by UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Central Asia, Ambassador Natalia German, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko, as well as by Rector of the International University for Humanities and Development Esen Aydogdyev.
As a result of the messages of the moderators of the workshops and the subsequent discussion, the Final Document was adopted, which, as planned, will be circulated at the UN General Assembly.
The document provided by ORIENT contains, in particular, a clause on supporting the proposal of the President of Turkmenistan to promote the Global Initiative "Dialogue - Guarantee of Peace" in order to unite the efforts of the international community in strengthening the traditions of peaceful and trusting coexistence of the peoples of the world, restoring value attitudes, world outlooks, the comprehensive development of a culture of peace and trust in international relations.

Forum participants also called the UN member states, regional and sub-regional organizations for youth to participate in promoting a culture of peace, tolerance and intercultural and interreligious dialogue, as well as to develop an understanding of respect for human dignity, pluralism and diversity through educational programs and projects.

The Final Document emphasized that the development of a culture of peace and trust in relations between states is inextricably linked with the policy of neutrality as a value that contributes to sustainable development, peace and security by strengthening solidarity and harmony.

In this context, it was recommended to all UN member states and other international organizations to fully use the potential of neutral states in promoting a culture of peace and trust, peaceful settlement of disputes, prevention and settlement of conflicts.
