The shipbuilding branch of Turkmenistan invites investors and foreign companies


Investors and shipbuilding companies of the ECO countries were invited to cooperation in the field of creation of merchant marine fleet of Turkmenistan. Deputy Chairman of State Service for Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan Annadurdy Kosaev at the ECO business forum made such proposal on Friday.
He also made a video presentation of the International seaport in Turkmenbashi in which a set of the data and indicators of its activity and capacities concerning transfer of cargoes appeared. So, the general throughput of the port averages about 17 million tons a year without oil products. The port is annually capable to accept and process 75 thousand trucks, 400 thousand containers, 3 million tons loose and 4 million tons of general cargoes.

For today, it is one of the major transport hubs of Turkmenistan. On the one hand, it opens very perspective possibilities for an access of the European countries to the markets of the Near and Middle East. And on the other hand, it serves as "sea gates » to Central Asia.

With development in recent years, the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACECA) possibilities of sea cargo transportation and appeal of shipping routes of Turkmenistan have considerably raised. Amidst strengthening of the role of sea transport in international transportation, escalation of volumes of transported cargoes between the Caspian ports there was a necessity of creation of modern and competitive sea merchant marine fleet of the country. In this area realisation of national projects on building of different classes of ship with attraction in this new to the country of branch of investments and the advanced world experience has begun.
