ECO considers visa facilitation mechanism for tourism and trade development

One of the important topics raised during the plenary session of the IV business forum of the member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation, held in Ashgabat, was the development of the tourism industry in the ECO region.
President of the Federation of Pakistani Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mian Nasser Hyyat Maggo stressed that the ECO region has significant potential to become a popular tourist destination that combines the historical and cultural heritage of peoples with the phenomenon of the ancient Silk Road.
Turkey, with an annual revenue of about US $ 30 billion from the tourism sector, can join other countries in the development of the tourism industry. So, according to him, the scheme for the introduction of visa stickers (confirmation of the issuance of an electronic visa) ECO is already under consideration by the Secretariat of the Organization.
Speaking about the prospects for expanding trade and interaction in this area, the speaker noted the need to implement the TIR Convention on the international carriage of goods in all ECO member countries. Moreover, all countries should organize appropriate trainings for traders and carriers of the region under the auspices of the ECO Secretariat for TIR Conventions.
Pakistan has created a road corridor with Turkey and Azerbaijan. Over the past month, five trucks have successfully arrived in Turkey and Azerbaijan, in 12 days in Turkey and in 5 days in Azerbaijan.
“We hope that in the future this road corridor will contribute to an increase in Pakistan's trade with the ECO countries,” said the head of the Federation of Pakistani Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
