The head coach of Kazan Rubin Kurban Berdyev flew to Ashgabat at the invitation of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan (FFT).

- When Vitalik Kafanov and I were invited to Rubin for the first time, there was only an old sandy field and an abandoned stadium. When the management informed us that they are not interested in the infrastructure, Vitalik and I turned around and drove back to Smolensk. Three months later the invitation was repeated, we arrived and agreed that we are developing the infrastructure. An abandoned stadium and a sandy field of non-standard size, this is where we started. And now Kazan has one of the best bases in Russia. I say this to the fact that you can begin without necessarily having the ideal conditions to build a club. We did it in parallel, built a base, a boarding school and together with it developed both youth football and the main professional team.On the role of the children's trainer in the whole structure of the club:
- Children's coach - this question is very serious. You can have a very strong infrastructure, but without strong children's coaches, the system will not work. I traveled a lot to different countries, to Holland, Spain, Brazil, I was looking for a method of work that would be more suited to our worldview, our understanding of football. We stopped at the Spanish club "Villarreal", which began to train their children according to this system even before "Barcelona". The most important figure in this system is the children's trainer, the work of the entire infrastructure depends on him. When there are qualified youth, the main thing is to train the coach. I am very pleased that the leaders of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan are now fundamentally suited to new projects, very serious projects. We spoke at length with them yesterday on this topic. This makes me happy.
Why you need to learn every day:
- You need to learn at any age. You know, I had a break in work for a year and a half. During this time I traveled 14 top clubs. Starting with Real Madrid and Barcelona. But the most impressive thing was the Empoli coach, Maurizio Sarri, when he worked in Italy. With the naked eye his work, his hand was visible. This is a man who has never played football at all; now he is coaching Chelsea. His look and approach to all the details is very important. A coach must know everything in football. If a child asks you a question, and you do not know how to answer it, this is already a big problem. I saw in Spain, when the boys asked the coach how they should better put the body, how to put the supporting leg correctly, and he would sort it out for them. When I returned to Russia, our coaches could not answer these questions for me, and this is a big problem.On joint projects with the Football Federation of Turkmenistan:
- We have agreed with the Football Federation that together we will help children's football and children's coaches who can come to our tournaments and develop with us. Moreover, this is our homeland and we would very much like us to meet more often. If we talk about my trips to other clubs, then the system approach is most impressive, especially in the development of the club, this is what Barcelona has. We saw there that they work like a clock, at all age levels, starting with the smallest and on and on. In this regard, we discussed with the leaders of the Federation that we are ready to take on the organization of infrastructure in the Turkmen top clubs. And this joint work is very important for us, we have long wanted to create something in Turkmenistan with Vanya Danilyants.
On the relationship between children's coaches and parents of their wards:
- In no case should you give in to their manipulations and become dependent on their financial support. Here the role of the children's trainer as a specialist is very important. You need to keep the level below which you can not fall, so as not to lose credibility. It is better to lose a player and some kind of trip to the tournament, even if you have fewer goals, but your level as a coach must be professional. You do not have to become a mentor led by your parents.On the preferences between defensive and offensive game tactics:
- You know that at one time I played closer to the attack, so this style is inside me. But the fact is, that was how it happened when I started working in Smolensk, when the team flew out of the First League, being in 12th place. It was necessary, first of all, to establish defense, as soon as the task was accomplished, the attack was adjusted. Then I came to Kazan, they were also in the First League, and the task was to get into the Higher League. They set up the game in defense, went into the top division, and there they again started from defense and so on and so forth. But all this time I had thoughts about attacking football. When I saw how Surry works, everything is built on attacking football. And these interactions in attack, I saw in “Man City” and “Real”, they are all different, but the approach and principles of the game are about the same. And now we want to switch to similar football.
