The Turkmen delegation took part in the dialogue the European Union - Central Asia, held on Monday in Dushanbe at the level of heads of foreign policy departments.

Participants of the meeting discussed the state and prospects of relations between EU and Central Asia, realisation of Strategy of the European Union for Central Asia and other issues of expansion of cooperation on which the Turkmen party has outlined its vision.

Addressing colleagues, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev supported activization of efforts within the limits of European Union BOMCA/CADAP program for close cooperation with the United Nations and its specialised structures. As priorities of interaction, he named combat of cyber criminality, strengthening of information and biological safety.

As for the Afghan problem, Turkmenistan confirmed again that its approach is based on the unity of political, economic and humanitarian aspects of assistance and support to Afghanistan.

As to economic partnership with EU, the Turkmen party highlights energy, industry, trade, transport and communications. In this context, a proposal on conduction of the next Economic forum EU-Central Asia in Turkmenistan was made.

Hajiyev reminded convocation by Turkmenistan in 2022 the international conference of ministers of transport of developing countries, which do not have an access to the sea, which will be organised under the aegis of the United Nations. He also noted importance of development of contacts in the field of preservation of the environment, climate changes, and water resources and suggested to start a new mechanism - EU – Central Asia Humanitarian Cooperation Forum.

Heads of Ministries for Foreign Affairs of European and Central Asian countries were invited to participation in the international forum of peace and trust, which will be held on December 12 in Ashkhabad.
