The governments of Turkmenistan and the PRC signed a new five-year cooperation program


The Turkmen-Chinese Cooperation Committee made preliminary results of joint work over the past year at an online meeting on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng, who noted that the strategic partnership of the two countries received a new impetus during the analyzed period.
Referring to further prospects for cooperation, Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on such areas as the digital economy, financial and banking sector, low-carbon development, agriculture and resource conservation, the chemical industry and trade.
The transport and communication sector seems to be especially relevant now; in this context, the mechanisms of conjugation of the Turkmen strategy "Revival of the Great Silk Road" with the Chinese initiative "One Belt, One Road" were considered.
They discussed the implementation of agreements on the fuel and energy complex, including those related to the supply of Turkmen natural gas to China.
A number of bilateral documents were signed at the meeting, including the Program of Cooperation between the Governments of Turkmenistan and the PRC for 2021-2025 and the Program to Expand Economic Partnership. At the intergovernmental level, an Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Cybersecurity and a Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Biological Security were also signed.
