CIS countries to adopt a joint action plan to prevent the spread of infections

Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Muhammetgeldi Serdarov took part at the 89th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The meeting was chaired by Igor Petrishenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus. The heads of the delegations of the Commonwealth countries discussed issues related to various areas of cooperation and the COVID-19 issue, with an emphasis on minimizing the negative consequences of the pandemic. A number of draft agreements were considered, including the draft Agreement on cooperation in the field of promoting employment of the population of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States and draft Agreement on cooperation in the field of sanitary protection of the territories of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The draft of Medium-term plan of joint actions of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States to counter the spread of infectious diseases was presented and considered as well. Prospective Plan of joint work on exploration, use and protection of subsoil resources of the CIS member states for 2021–2025 was adopted. The document will contribute to solving complex geological tasks by studying the structure of large blocks of the Earth’s crust, assessment the mineral and raw material potential of border areas, work in the field of hydrogeology, hydrogeodynamics, geochemistry, digital transformation of the geological industry, the formation of a common information and legal space in the field of subsoil use and effective use mineral resource base. The Interstate Space Council briefed on cooperation to promote the integration of the ground infrastructures of the CIS states using GLONASS signals. In this regard, it is planned to create a Navigation Service System of improved accuracy. The use of high-precision navigation technologies is necessary in various areas of economy, including ensuring the safety of gas and oil pipelines, dispatching land, river and air vehicles, etc. Following the meeting, the members of the Economic Council approved 12 documents that were in the agenda. The next meeting of the CIS Economic Council is scheduled for June 18, 2021, it will be held in Moscow, at VDNKh.
