Goods turnover between Turkmenistan and Austria has grown by 34% in 2021


For 6 months of the current year goods turnover between Turkmenistan and Austria has grown by 34% as compared with the similar period of the past year. Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov stated it at the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Michael Linhart in Ashkhabad on Tuesday.
– Despite the pandemic, bilateral trade in 2020 grew by 2, 5 times as compared with 2019, as given by our statistics. At the same time, I would like to tell that according to the Austrian statistics for six months of this year, trade with Turkmenistan has grown by 34%, as compared with the same period of 2020, - Meredov said.

He noted that the Austrian companies actively participate in economic processes in Turkmenistan.
– Speaking on prospects of trade and economic cooperation between our countries, I would like to mention that we have very much high potential in such areas, as investments, industry, logistics, tourism, digital technologies, and trade and public health services.

In these spheres we consider important to develop bilateral contacts between the private companies of our countries, - the head of the foreign policy department of Turkmenistan said, having mentioned a significant contribution of the office of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan in Vienna to this activity.
The Turkmen diplomat suggested holding the next session of the Turkmen-Austrian commission planned for the following year in Ashkhabad.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Michael Linhart visited Ashkhabad within his tour of the countries of Central Asia. During his trip, he is accompanied by business delegation with which participation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, after the “face-to-face” meeting of ministers "a round table business talk” was held.

In particular, the Austrian business was represented by the companies working in spheres of public health services (VAMED, AME International GmbH), financial services (Österreichische Kontrollbank AG), and energy (Solkav e. V, Geppert GmbH), printing industry (Heidelberger), buildings (Waagner-Biro) and in other areas in it.
