UIET expands areas for crop production


Dovran Khudayberdiev, Head of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, spoke about the plans of business agrarians to increase the production of crop products with a focus on replacing imports and increasing their exports.
The report was announced at a working meeting that President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held with the leadership of the trade sector on Thursday via video conferencing.

According to the head of the association of entrepreneurs, farm enterprises have allocated more than 9 thousand hectares for planting vegetables and melons. They planned to get at least 174.4 thousand tons of fruit from this area. More than 13.2 thousand hectares are occupied by fruit and grape plantations, which are expected to bring about 70.5 thousand tons of vitamin products during the harvest season. More than 25 thousand hectares are areas for oilseeds.
In greenhouse farms, on 500 hectares, a tomato crop will be laid; it is planned to receive about 85 thousand tons of the crop, a large part of this will be exported.
There is the necessary infrastructure to store the growing volumes of crop production, and this year alone, the UIET enterprises have built dozens of refrigerated warehouses, created additional processing facilities and new jobs.
The President noted the important role of the private sector in providing the domestic market with food and pointed out the investment opportunities of the agricultural business. The state will continue to support private agricultural producers, stimulating the technological and innovative development of the domestic agro-industrial complex, its export promotion, the head of state said and instructed Deputy Prime Minister Chary Gylydzhov to prepare new proposals on this topic.
