Ashgabat – among top ten popular tourist destinations in CIS
According to the rating of the analytical agency "TurStat", dealing with research of the tourism and travel market in the CIS, Ashgabat is one of the ten most attractive tourist destinations in the researched zone.
Along with the white marble capital of Turkmenistan, ten other cities - Minsk, Astana, Baku, Yerevan, Almaty, Tashkent, Kiev, Chisinau and Bishkek.
Analysts compiled rating table based on the evaluation of data on online bookings of tourist accommodation.
According to the website, tourists stay in Ashgabat in average for three days, while the daily stay costs about US $ 40 dollars.
Among the most expensive cities of the CIS are Astana and Baku, where tourist spends $ 85 and $ 78 per day respectively. The cheapest cities are Bishkek ($ 35 per day) and Chisinau ($ 32 per day).
The high degree of tourist activity is observed now, on the days of hosting the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat. By the way, two facilities of the Olympic complex, the venue of the Games, have entered the Guinness Book of Records - a sculpture of the Akhalteke horse and the world's largest indoor pool of the Center for Aquatic Sports.
Ashgabat destination can be found in the numerous routes of well-known European tour operators. The foreign visitors are admired with capital’s museums, parks, squares, cosy restaurants, as well as other sights that beat world records by various parameters, including the world's largest hand-carpet with an area of 301 square meters, the highest flagpole in front of the State Museum of Turkmenistan, the fountain complex "Oguzkhan and Sons", the huge Oguz Khan star on the TV and Radio Broadcasting Center "Turkmenistan", the Ferris wheel of the cultural and entertainment center "Älem", the largest image of the carpet ornament, which decorate the roof of main passenger terminal of Ashgabat International Airport.
