Presidents of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan held a briefing for the media
Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a briefing for the media, summing up the Turkmen-Kazakh summit talks held in Ashgabat on Monday.
Thus, the political significance of the agreements completing the legal registration of land and sea borders between the two countries was noted.
As follows from the statements of the heads of state for the press, the governments have been instructed to use the existing export potential to expand the range of goods. In particular, Kazakhstan is ready to increase the supply of products from the metallurgical, engineering, petrochemical, food and pharmaceutical industries, as well as agricultural products, primarily flour and wheat. Kazakhstan is also ready to significantly increase imports of Turkmen gas.
For more effective economic cooperation, the presidents instructed the governments to accelerate the signing of the Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments. It was proposed to hold business forums annually at the level of the regions of the countries, it was voiced the prospect to create a Special zone of border trade with a car cargo terminal on the border of the Mangistau and Balkan regions.
In the transport and transit sphere, the main tasks are the full loading of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway and the interaction between the Caspian ports of Aktau, Kuryk and Turkmenbashi.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the initiative of the Turkmen leader to build a bridge across the Garabogaz Bay to launch a new highway in the direction of Kazakhstan and announced his readiness to explore the possibilities of joint implementation of this promising project.
He also invited the President of Turkmenistan to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan next year.
After the briefing, a solemn ceremony of awarding the President of Kazakhstan with the “Bitaraplyk” Order took place. The high state award was presented to him by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
At the end of his visit, the President of Kazakhstan laid flowers at the memorial complex "People's Memory" and the Monument of Independence of Turkmenistan, and also planted a tree on the Alley of Honorable Guests.
