The archeological exhibition “Margiana – the kingdom of the Bronze Age on the territory of Turkmenistan”, which will be now displayed in Mannheim, following Berlin and Hamburg, aroused a huge interest, both among lovers of ancient history and professionals. Many of the German researchers, having acquainted with the artifacts presented at the exhibition, became even more interested in the history of the ancient “megalopolis” Gonur Depe – the capital of ancient Margiana, the discovery of which almost turned upside-down the conception of the history of humanity. With great enthusiasm and glowing eyes, another delegation comprised of directors and specialists of the largest museums in Germany arrived in Ashgabat. On this occasion, the State Museum of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with the participation of foreign guests, as well as heads of Turkmen museums, researchers and specialists. The deepening of cooperation between museums of two countries and the study of artifacts found in Turkmenistan that are of great interest to the scientific community were the key topics of the agenda. “We are inspired by the fact that thanks to the cooperation with Turkmenistan we were able to show the people of Europe an unprecedented amazing world that changed their world-view,” Matthias Wemhoff, Director of Berlin’s Museum of Prehistory and Early History, said. “Such interaction really changes our life, makes us to see a new way both our own and culture of foreign countries.” During the meeting, the possibility to strengthen cooperation between scientists of Turkmenistan and Germany in the context of the joint interpretation of the historical heritage of Margiana – painted pottery, symbols and other artifacts, was discussed. Leaning the sense of the items can be the starting point for the deep study of the ancient civilization and lead to new discovery in the scientific world,” Chief specialist of the New Museum of Berlin,, Ph.D. Manfred Navrot said. In addition, much attention was paid to the further study of Margiana artifacts by the latest technologies that are available in German laboratories. With their help, it is possible to not only learn the exact age of the artifacts, but also make more assumptions that are reasonable on methods they used, study the composition more detailed and learn much more.
