Turkmen judoka team is preparing for international competitions in Georgia


The judo wrestlers of the national team of Turkmenistan are holding training session in Batumi under the guidance of the coach from Georgia Amiran Totikashvili, who started to train the Turkmen team in this February.
The bronze medalist of the 1988 Summer Olympics, World Champion, two times European champion, Champion International Tournaments and the Goodwill Games that are equal to the Olympic Games, conducts intense training sessions with Turkmen athletes before major competitions, increasing their physical and technical skills.
Judo Tbilisi Grand Prix that to be held from March 29 to March 31 would be first test tournament for Turkmen wrestlers led by Totikashvili. The large-scale competitions will gather over 500 strongest judoka from 60 countries of the world. The Turkmen team will comppr of 13 athletes, including Batyr Hodjamuhammedov (up to 100 kg), Gulbadam Babamuratova (up to 52 kg), who have shined several times at previous Grand Prix series.
The main goal of the mentor from Georgia and his wards is to comprehensively prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Games and win Olympic medals. After all, as the head coach of the Georgian National Judo Team, Totikashvili trained a number of Olympic champions, including Irakli Tsirekidze, Georgian judoka of Middleweight and Heavyweight categories.
