Preparation of a draft agreement on the Turkmen-Uzbek zone of border trade is underway
In the near future, the approval of the draft Agreement on the establishment and regulation of the activity of the Turkmen-Uzbek zone of border trade will be completed.
This information was announced during a regular meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian cooperation in Tashkent.
The parties outlined joint actions to ensure the stability of supplies of products of Turkmen and Uzbek production in the markets of the two countries. In the near future, the trade turnover between the states is planned to reach USD 1 billion.
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan voiced their interest in increasing the volume of mutual trade by increasing the supply of oil, oil products, electricity, chemical products, polymer materials and mineral fertilizers.
During the meeting, it was noted that today, 160 enterprises operate in Uzbekistan with the participation of Turkmen capital. According to the results of the six months of 2021, the trade turnover between the states increased by 20% as compared to the same period in 2020.
In four years, the Turkmen-Uzbek trade turnover increased 3 times due to an increase in the supply of agricultural, fruit and vegetable, pharmaceutical and textile products, building materials, oil products, electricity, etc.
