Russia expects to increase supplies of agricultural products from the CIS countries


Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Viktoria Abramchenko announced the relevance of increasing imports of agricultural products from the CIS countries to reduce the rate of growth in food prices, Russian media report.
First of all, it is planned to increase supplies from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Belarus. At the same time, Turkmenistan has already increased the export of fruit and vegetables to Russia by 93% as compared to the last year, the journalists write.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued an instruction to increase the supply of fruit and vegetables from the CIS countries.
In the text of the instruction it was noted that the growth of imports will ensure the stabilization of prices for food products and stimulate the development of national agricultural producers by increasing competition. In addition, some product shortages will be covered at the expense of other countries.
Putin also instructed the Federal Antimonopoly Service to increase control over food prices in trading network.
