Electronic business and development of digital market - an online seminar’s subject


Positive influence of electronic business and electronic commerce on development of digital market is studied by participants of the seminar organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat and continuing a series of the trainings directed to increase of efficiency of public sector and potential of private segment, their interaction. This time the emphasis was placed on the role of the state in introduction of legislative measures for digitalization development.
At the opening of the online seminar on Thursday, his mentors and listeners were welcomed by Ambassador John Mac-Gregor, the head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat. On the first day of training international expert, Shavkat Sabirov introduced audience into the current world trends in the sphere of electronic business and electronic commerce, acquainted with the advanced practice in development of strategy and legislations for creation of the favourable electronic environment and attraction of investments.

In addition, regulatory tools and the policy aimed at sustainable development of e-business and e-commerce were considered. The subject was continued by other expert - Lyudmila Bejenaru who described the principle of mechanisms of cooperation between the state and the private sector for development of e-business on the example of a number of large platforms.
Speakers also carried out rounds "question-answer" after each sounded subject and summarized results of the first day. Its second day will be devoted to such aspects as safety of digital markets, regulation of e-business and e-commerce in the conditions of emergency situations (such as COVID-19 pandemic), the role of the state in safety of consumers in digital markets and opportunity for development of their development in Turkmenistan.
The topicality of the seminar is conditioned by that, some segments of online economy endured boom since the beginning of distribution of COVID-19. According to trade and development experts of the UN, UNCTAD, the share of sector of electronic trading in the total amount of retails in 2020 grew with 16 to 19%.
"These statistical data show the growing value of online activity, - Shamika Sirimanne, director of UNCTAD of technologies and logistics told. - They also indicate the need for the countries which are especially developing to have such information when they restore the economy after COVID-19 pandemic".
