Cotton harvest begins in Turkmenistan


The cotton harvesting campaign began in Turkmenistan on Wednesday in the Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary regions. The northern region - Dashoguz - will join the mass harvest in a week, on September 15.
It is planned to harvest 1 million 250 thousand tons of cotton from 620 thousand hectares. In the regional context, Mary has the largest share - 365 thousand, next Lebap - 320 thousand, Akhal - 280 thousand, Dashoguz - 275 thousand. The coastal region of the Balkan will also make its contribution - 10 thousand tons.
The technical park of the current harvest is 1 thousand units of John Deere cotton harvesters, more than 2.2 thousand trucks, over 2.3 thousand tractors and 3.6 thousand trailers.
In addition, agricultural aviation will be involved in defoliation of cotton.
The harvest will be delivered from the fields to 122 procurement points and 39 ginneries.
