In Lebap a power plant with innovative Japanese turbines was put into operation


The 432 MW new gas-turbine power plant joined operating ones in Lebap. It was a part of the Lebap state power plant located in the Charjev district.

The large electrical power project was realized by Turkmenenergo State Corporation in cooperation with Japanese Sumitomo Corporation and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems with assistance of the Turkish Construction Holding Rönesans.

For participation in the opening ceremony of this status object in Turkmenistan arrived the Japanese delegation headed by State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan of Ejima Kiyoshi.

As it was reported in an evening edition of news of the Turkmen television, functioning of the new power plant is ensured by three gas turbines of Mitsubishi for the first time installed in Turkmenistan. Each of them has the output power of 144 MW.

Together with them the total power of Lebap state power plant reached 581, 2 MW. It means also more opportunities for increase in deliveries of electric power to the countries of the region - Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.

The project of power plant was discussed during bilateral negotiations in March, 2015 in the city of Sendai, during the visit of the president of Turkmenistan, and the contract for its realization was signed with Sumitomo and the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan in October, the same year, during the visit of the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Ashgabat.

State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Ejima Kiyoshi at the opening ceremony of station declared aspiration of the Japanese companies and further to participate in important industrial projects of Turkmenistan, having reminded also of the agreements reached during the visit to Japan of the Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov in July, this year. It concerns agreements on delivery to Turkmenistan of equipment of Komatsu and Toyota cars.

Documents were transferred in the opening ceremonies of new object of Lebap hydroelectric power station, certifying what exactly here for the first time in Central Asia the gas turbines M701DA from Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems possessing exclusive reliability and economic efficiency and also concerning involvement in this production of innovative technologies - from the Swiss federal institute of technology and the German Institute of energy of Max Planck are installed.
