New Internet service tariffs: ORIENT specifies details

The day before, the President of Turkmenistan has ordered to review the prices for Internet and other communication services, as well as to provide wide access of the population to the Internet. Appropriate instructions were given at a working session on development of transport and communication complex. Having addressed to Vice-Premier Bayramgeldi Ovezov, who oversees this complex in the government, and to the heads of transport and communication complex, President Berdimuhamedov has stated that according to anti-crisis program of 2020 – 2021 and in regards with comprehensive introduction of e-commerce, Internet services, remote work and education, it is necessary to enhance the quality and capabilities of communication services. Today, in accordance with the decision of the Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency, tariffs for Internet service based on ADSL technology with traffic restriction and on ADSL, VDSL technologies with unlimited Internet access, as well as for renting of a dedicated information channel have been reduced. There are separate reduced tariffs for individuals living in cities, for population living in rural communities and regional districts, for state enterprises and organizations, private entrepreneurs, non-state legal entities without foreign investors (business companies, individual enterprises, etc.) and for scientific and educational institutions of Turkmenistan. On average, the costs have been reduced by 50 to 80 percent. Internet services in Turkmenistan are provided by Turkmentelecom and AGTS (Ashgabat City Telephone Network СJSC). As ORIENT was informed by is source at the Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency, the tariffs reduction is not a one-time campaign, and the new costs of Internet services have been introduced on a permanent basis.
