Berdimuhamedov: Turkmenistan is ready to make an active contribution to solving global issues
Turkmenistan is ready to take an active part in solving global issues, cooperating across their entire spectrum with the UN and its agencies, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during a meeting with the new UN Resident Coordinator in Ashgabat Dmitry Shlapachenko.
Together with his credentials, Shlapachenko conveyed to the Turkmen leader a greeting from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and reaffirmed the UN's support for the reforms being carried out in the country.
During the audience, the priorities of interaction in key areas were considered, including the Sustainable Development Goals, which Turkmenistan was among the first countries to nationalize in its state programs.
The urgency of international initiatives of Turkmenistan in the fields of energy, transport and other areas was also noted. The UN called for the promotion of these initiatives by adopting the relevant resolutions.
One of them was the resolution adopted by the UNGA in 2021 on strengthening ties between all modes of transport to ensure stable international transport during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
