The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the country’s key positions in the United Nations General Assembly


Deputy Chairman, head of the foreign policy department of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov during the government meeting sounded priority positions of the country at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

An active assistance to the community of international efforts in combat of spread of the pandemic of dangerous infectious diseases and counteraction to their fatal consequences on global social and economic development will be one of the basic vectors of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan.
In particular, till now necessity of development under the aegis of the World Health Organization the program on study of the genome of coronavirus infections and creation of the methodology centre for on treatment and prevention of acute infectious diseases, and also establishment of the centre for epidemiology, virology and bacteriology in the Central Asian region.
In the course of General Assembly Turkmenistan will submit to member states of the United Nations the draft resolution on closer coordination of activity of the countries of Central Asia according to tendencies in world geopolitics. It as the head of foreign policy department considers, will raise the role of the Central Asian region in the solution of global issues of the present.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also informed that in the United Nations General Assembly it will be proposed to create «Central Asia - the Caspian region: zone of peace, trust and cooperation».
The Turkmen party also plans to advance in the international relations which have developed for today such forms of interstate interaction, as Youth academy of preventive diplomacy and Dialogue of women of Central Asia.
During the session of UN GA the issue on opening of «structures under the international projects of Counter-terrorism Office of the United Nations» in the Turkmen capital will be brought up.
The draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on cooperation of the United Nations Organization and the Organization of Economic Cooperation also will be presented to the participants of the session. This document has been developed by Turkmenistan as the chairman in ECO.
Turkmenistan will initiate carrying out of the international conference «Stable energy for all» which is one of the 17 global goals of sustainable development.
In Ashkhabad next year it is planned to hold the international forum of ministers of the developing countries which do not have an access to the sea. In this aspect the initiative about creation of the Special program will be sounded under the aegis of the United Nations on development of the inter-regional transport network.
In the context of activization of participation of Turkmenistan within the limits of UNESCO the country’s election to the structure of the Intergovernmental council of the International hydrological program for 2021-2025 will be offered.

As president Berdimuhamedov underlined, initiatives of Turkmenistan which will be sounded at United Nations regular session, answer both to national interests, and the global goals of sustainable development.
