Afghanistan and Russia are negotiating for the Sputnik V supply

Representatives of Afghanistan and the Russian Direct Investment Fund have started negotiations on the supply of the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus Sputnik V to the Islamic Republic, TASS reports with reference to a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry. “The Afghan economic operators are negotiating with the Russian Direct Investment Fund – a responsible Russian structure – for the specific conditions and volumes of possible supplies,” informed the Foreign Ministry. The ministry representative also noted that in 2020, Russia helped Afghanistan in the fight against the epidemic of coronavirus infection. Personal protective equipment, medical devices, disinfectants, and test systems for detecting the virus were granted as part of the humanitarian aid. The media note that WHO is currently considering Russia’s application for the inclusion of Sputnik V in a list of vaccines for emergency use. The exact date of the drug’s inclusion in the list is not yet known, but the vaccine has already passed four of the five necessary justification stages.
