Russia highly appreciates the initiative of Turkmenistan on organization of the Caspian summit this year


Russia highly appreciates the initiative of the Turkmen party to hold the sixth Summit of heads of the Caspian states till the end of the current year in Turkmenistan. It was stated by Charge d'Affaires ad interim in affairs of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan Konstantin Shlykov at the scientific-practical conference in Ashkhabad, devoted to Day of the Caspian Sea.
This event, undoubtedly, will strengthen cooperation of the Caspian coastal states, will stimulate it, - he said. - Today it is especially important to undertake efforts which would allow the Caspian region to remain an example of close mutually beneficial work for the benefit of our people in the conditions of peace, stability and mutual trust on a constant basis.
Shlykov noted that now a comprehensive package of documents which will be considered at the future summit is under development. As was informed in the official Turkmen press, their list includes agreements in the sphere of scientific researches and search and rescue work on the Caspian Sea.
The representative of Russia also marked that its country counts on consideration of a complex of nature protection issues, including ecological safety at the VI Caspian summit.
The V Summit of heads of the Caspian states was held on August 12, 2018 in the Kazakhstan city of Aktau. The Convention on legal status of the Caspian Sea which was discussed a five-sided format for more than 20 years, was signed.
Thanks to the signing of the mentioned document there was a possibility of building of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline by which Turkmen blue fuel can be exported to the countries of the European Union through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
Also in many respects thanks to the Convention in the beginning of the current year between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan the Memorandum on mutual understanding for joint prospecting, exploration, and development of the hydro carbon deposit of "Dostluk" in the Caspian sea was signed.
