Day of the Caspian Sea was marked in Ashkhabad the international forum of ecology


The forum on protection of ecosystems of the Caspian sea was held on Thursday in Ashkhabad with participation of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan, Director of the Institute of the Caspian sea and profile experts, representatives of diplomatic community of the coastal states and the international organisations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan informs on it on its site.
The Director of the Regional Programme of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) “Integrative and Climate Sensitive Land Use for Economic Development in Central Asia”, Sub-regional Coordinator of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for Central Asia, Regional Coordinator of the UN Environment Programme for Europe Office/Tehran Convention Interim Secretariat, as well as the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) participated to the meeting via videoconferencing.

Experts discussed cooperation development on the Caspian Sea in various ecological aspects, efficiency of its five-sided mechanisms and possibility of new formats of the dialogue.
The exchange of opinions on the course of preparation for the VI Caspian summit which will pass in Turkmenistan, development of joint documents for signing by leaders of the Caspian countries also took place.
