Amazing food-related world records
Nathan’s Famous, the official partner of the Guinness Book of World Records and the general sponsor of the Hot Dog Eating Championship, has prepared for the publication a list of unusual achievements related to food and set in 2020.
The fast food brand, whose history began in 1916, when Nathan Handwerker, an emigrant from Poland, opened a snack-bar on Coney Island, where beef hot dogs with the addition of unique secret spices were prepared according to a recipe invented by his wife Ida, is considered to be one of the oldest in the world.
First on the franchise’s list is the record set last year by thirty-six-year-old Joey Chestnut, who managed to eat seventy-five hot dogs in ten minutes. This record allowed the American to win the World Championship for the fifth time in a row.
The second record was forty-three-meter pizza Margarita, made by Italian chefs. It was designed a special oven for its preparation. Baking was done by five chefs. To prepare the product, they used nine tons of first-class flour, nine tons of special mozzarella cheese, four tons of tomato sauce, seven hundred kilograms of margarine, two hundred and fifty kilograms of salt, one hundred and ninety kilograms of vegetable oil and twenty-two kilograms of balsamic vinegar. The reason for the preparation of record-holder pizza, the cooks called an attempt to draw attention to the problem of poverty in the country. After cooking the pizza, it was divided into portions and sent to the needy residents of the Italian capital.
The third record was also set in Italy. At the ice cream festival, Dimitri Panziera managed to fit one hundred and twenty-one balls of dessert on one cone. The previous record was one hundred and nine balls and it was also belonged to Dimitri.
And on the website of the Austrian-Turkmen Society users can independently choose from a number of unique dishes that the Turkmen cuisine is famous for, something suitable for setting their own gastronomic achievements and records.
