Dialogue on security and cooperation - a new regional platform will appear in Central Asia
The presidents of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan, stressing that its early settlement is one of the most important factors in maintaining and strengthening security and stability in Central Asia. This provision is enshrined in a separate paragraph of the Joint Statement following the consultative meeting of the heads of state of the region held in Avaza.
According to the document, the presidents of the five countries are ready to render all possible assistance to the achievement of civil peace and harmony in Afghan society.
The Central Asian states also support the efforts of all countries and international organizations striving to promote security and stability in Afghanistan, the restoration of the socio-economic infrastructure of this country and its involvement in world economic relations.
The Statement reflects the intention of the parties to study the issue of creating a dialogue on security and cooperation in Central Asia. On this permanent consultative platform, current topics of the region's development will be regularly reviewed.
