Turkmenistan is ready to increase gas supplies to Central Asia and foreign markets


Turkmenistan is ready to significantly increase the supply of natural gas and electricity to Central Asia and beyond, said Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov following a consultative meeting of the heads of state of the region, held on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, in the “Avaza» National Tourist Zone.

Making a statement to the media, Meredov noted that when discussing the interaction of the region's countries in the energy sector, the Turkmen side declared its readiness to significantly increase the volume of natural gas supplies from Turkmenistan to the countries of Central Asia, or through their territories to foreign markets, on mutually beneficial terms. The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry also stressed that the capacities available in the country make it possible to significantly increase the supply of electricity to the Central Asian states.
– The maximum realization of the natural resource potential of our region and the advantages of its geographical location requires the creation of a powerful energy infrastructure - both within the region and along its external perimeter, active and full-fledged participation of all Central Asian states without exception, - added Meredov.
