The Consultative meeting of heads of the Central Asian states will stimulate strengthening of regional cooperation and creation of conditions for effective and constructive participation of the region in continental and global processes, participants of the summit consider.

Presidents of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan considered key aspects of development of political, trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian interaction between the regional countries, informs the site of the Turkmen foreign policy department.

The constructive exchange of opinions concerning the regional stability took place. Presidents discussed actual issues of regional cooperation, exchanged opinions on essential topics of international significance. They also agreed to strengthen foreign policy cooperation, including regular five-sided meetings between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the countries of the region.

The parties noted importance of region from the geopolitical and geoeconomic points of view, underlined a high level of mutual understanding, trust and mutual respect between the countries which are connected by centuries-old historical, spiritual and cultural bonds. It is underlined that all it positively influences development of not only the region, but also Eurasia as a whole.

The special attention was given to creation of favourable conditions for partnership in the energy sphere, to expansion of cooperation of the countries of the region in transport-communication area, in particular by maintenance of effective functioning existing and formations of new transport corridors.

In his speech President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said:

  • Being based on United Nations documents, we go by the way of formation of favourable political-legal and economic conditions for safe and steady energy partnership in Central Asia focused as on satisfaction of intraregional demand for energy carriers, and on an access to the world markets through the international transit corridors.

Presidents exchanged opinions concerning development of commercial relations, increase in volumes of export-import transactions. Agreements on increase in diversification of mutual goods turnover and industrial cooperation were reached.

Consolidation of efforts of the countries of the region on control of the pandemic was one of the important components of the agenda of the meeting. Presidents agreed to promote the organisation and to encourage joint researches in the field of study of nature of the origin of infections of new type, and also introduction of new methods of treatment and prevention of infectious diseases.

Following the results of the meeting the Joint statement of heads of the Central Asian states was accepted.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the special representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Central Asia Natalia Herman gave the press conference following the results of the Consultative meeting of heads of the Central Asian states.
