New UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan was appointed
The United Arab Emirates has appointed Ahmed Al-Hamli as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan, UAE media reported.
The swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed UAE ambassadors took place in front of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, ruler of Dubai, at the Qasr Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi, the Emirates News Agency informs.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid wished the plenipotentiaries good luck and success in the service to their country, protecting its highest interests and supporting all UAE citizens abroad in terms of medical treatment, tourism or study.
Sheikh Mohammed also urged them to respect the laws and culture of the host countries, adhere to local laws and not interfere in their internal affairs.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE were established on October 10, 1995. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the UAE was opened in the city of Abu Dhabi on January 16, 2001. The UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan was opened in Ashgabat on August 20, 2002. On November 23, 2019, Turkmenistan opened its Consulate General in Dubai. In June 2019, a shop of Turkmen carpets, textiles and souvenirs was opened in Dubai.
The official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates on March 15-16, 2018 opened a new page in the history of interstate relations. During the top-level talks in Abu Dhabi, the prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed and specific objectives for its development were identified.
49 agreements signed in various fields since the date of the official establishment of diplomatic relations between Ashgabat and Abu Dhabi strengthened the legal framework of interstate relations between the two countries.
