As the Turkmen business develops the urban food sector and creates jobs in rural areas

The industry of high-tech processing of fruits and vegetables in Turkmenistan strengthens the well-being of people in rural areas. Due to the work of factories in cities that buy tons of agricultural products, hundreds of workplaces are created in Turkmen villages.
New brands of various fruit and vegetable purees, ketchups and natural additives to dishes fill the shelves of domestic stores. Turkmen juices and fermented milk products with fruit fillers are becoming increasingly popular.
The expansion of the range of this category of goods favors the growth of plant production domestically, as well as a decrease in the import of its analogues.
According to the State Statistics Committee, for 11 months of 2020, all farms in Turkmenistan produced 10.6% more vegetables compared to the same period in 2019. The cultivation of fruits and berries increased by 11.5%, and an increasing number of private enterprises are beginning to process them.
The Turkmen business began to displace foreign competitors, producers of juices, baby purees and canned vegetables and fruits from the market. They were replaced by their Turkmen counterparts, that is confirmed by the statistics of the State Statistics Committee.
In January-October 2020, the import of vegetables and fruits in Turkmenistan decreased by 22.3% compared to the same period last year. The import of convertibles of plant products declined in the country by 45.2%.
The government continues to support domestic agricultural producers with soft loans, and helps farmers buy high-tech agricultural equipment from major companies. Significant adjustments are also being made to the legislation in order to increase labor productivity in rural areas and increase the return on the use of farmland.
The sphere of high-tech processing of fruits and vegetables promotes the development of agriculture in general. Constant consumer demand for fruit and vegetable products has fostered the growth of small farms, creating more jobs in rural areas.
Rural residents obtain year-round employment not only in the fields, but also in greenhouse complexes, where both familiar and exotic fruits and vegetables for the Turkmen climate are grown.
