Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination campaign as part of the Make in India Initiative. In his videoconferencing speech, he expressed confidence that this trust in Indian experience and Indian vaccine scientists will be further strengthened by the production of coronavirus vaccines under the Make in India initiative. The Head of the Indian Government noted that Indian vaccines, in addition to being much cheaper than foreign, are also easier to use. Notably, India’s Comptroller General of Medicines earlier this month approved the Oxford Covishield vaccine produced by the Serum Institute and the domestic vaccine Covaxin being developed by the Company Bharat Biotech design for limited emergency use in the country. The development of Indian virologists is interesting for Turkmenistan in the light of the instruction given recently by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the country’s medical authorities on the certification of foreign vaccines against coronavirus. During his visit to the Olympic Park of Ashgabat and discussion of the issues related to holding major international competitions in Turkmenistan in 2021, the head of state specified that it is necessary to provide foreign participants in these competitions with the possibility of free vaccination against the COVID-19 at their choice. In this regard, the Turkmen leader instructed the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry to register in the country coronavirus vaccines produced abroad. Currently, the country has approved for the use the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, and the certification of the second EpiVakCorona vaccine of the Russian Federation is considered.
