Over 3 years, the volume of trade between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has grown 3 times

Over the past three years, the volume of trade between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has tripled, and from January to June 2021, mutual trade increased by 9% compared to the first half of 2020. Such indicators were announced at the meeting of the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with the Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Chary Gylydzhov held in Ashgabat.

The parties expressed their readiness to intensify mutual trade and economic partnership, which is dynamically developing despite the pandemic and recession in the world economy caused by quarantine restrictions, UzDaily.uz reports.
One of the topics of the negotiations was industrial cooperation, including in such areas as the processing of agricultural and fruit and vegetable products, the production of textile, leather, footwear and pharmaceutical products, household and agricultural equipment. In this regard, the delegations of the two countries agreed to adopt a Roadmap indicating specific joint projects and partner companies.
They also discussed the development of economic ties at the level of border regions, in particular, between Bukhara region and Lebap, Khorezm and Dashoguz regions.
For the practical implementation of the agreements, a joint working group will be created to study the issues of increasing the volume of mutual trade.
