What is important to remember on Defenders of the Fatherland Day?
On January 27, Defender of the Fatherland Day, a professional holiday for the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, is celebrated. The event is marked by military ceremonies all around the country to emphasize the significant role of soldiers in the development of neutral Turkmen state.
On this festive date, it is worth to remember that the prosperous life of people of the country directly depends on the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to soldiers, officers and law enforcement officials. It includes the maintenance of peace and stability, ensuring territorial integrity, and the rule of law.
A man in uniform, day and night, ensure the country’s security, a high level of combat capability of the National Army. Their daily life consists of combat duties, exercises and enhanced physical training. Continuous self-improvement and development of skills allows them to complete tasks of any complexity.
The servicemen demonstrated their excellent physical skills and endurance in sports competitions organized on the eve of the holiday between representatives of all law enforcement agencies of the country. During the period of January 18 to January 22, they competed in athletics, basketball and volleyball.
The officers of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan won confidently the competition. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service took second and third places in the overall medal standings, respectively.
Servicemen-athletes of Turkmenistan are many-times prize-winners of prestigious international competitions. Their regular victories confirm high level of military-sports training, which is an integral part of the daily routine for both ordinary soldiers and officers.
On morning of January 27, servicemen of all types and branches of the armed forces, students of higher educational institutions of military and law enforcement agencies took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the Memorial Complex “People’s Memory”. Heads and officers of military and law enforcement agencies also put flowers to the podium with sculpture of Berdimuhamed Annayev, grandfather of the President of Turkmenistan, that is set up at the Specialized Military School No. 1 of the Ministry of Defense and after which the school has been named.
Dozens of armed forces personnel, who on this day during solemn ceremony were promoted to the next high military ranks and insignia, will remember this holiday for long. A festive colorful concert organized by military staff has added special solemnity to the celebration of Defenders of the Fatherland Day.
Festive concerts by art groups of the military higher education establishments commemorate the continuity of traditions of military ensembles and orchestras, which were harbingers of a peaceful and happy life during the war. The motto of the year – “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust” – was of special emphasis during the concert. In the literary and theatrical compositions, the corresponding symbolism that refer to the mentality of the Turkmen people was actively used.
Demonstration performances of armed forces personnel of the special-purpose unit “Türkmen edermen” adorned the concert. They performed hand-to-hand fighting skills accompanied by a live performance of a song dedicated to the valiant Turkmen special forces.
The Defenders of the Fatherland Day has showed the unity of all military and law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan, which ensure the safety of the country’s citizens not only on land, sea and air, but also in the field of law. Everyone who wears epaulettes, or was previously a conscript soldier, celebrates this glorious holiday with great pride.
