Сrops grown in greenhouses by members of the UIET

The export of Turkmen tomatoes breaks new records every year, but the country's entrepreneurs grow not only tomatoes in greenhouses. Although yields of other crops are not so substantial, members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country are working on increase of their production in order to strengthen Turkmenistan's food independence.
Various varieties of cucumber are successfully ripened in local greenhouses. Private firms grow about 1,585 tons of cucumber per year, making it the second most popular indoor crop.

Entrepreneurs also get a good harvest of bell pepper. Its annual harvest makes about 525 tons. Great success has been achieved in the cultivation of lemon, annual harvest of which is about 500-600 tons.
The volume of strawberry production is increasing. The private sector expects to harvest 100 tons of this tasty and healthy berry this year. The flagship enterprise in the cultivation of this crop is the “Tudana” enterprise.
Entrepreneurs in Turkmenistan are also working to increase the yield of bananas. The last harvest of this exotic plant for the country was 60 tons. In the new season, which falls on November-December, businessmen expect to collect already 80 tons.

At present, agribusiness pays great attention to the development of production in greenhouse conditions of various types of berries and fruits, including raspberries, blueberries, currants, etc. New projects are being considered for the construction of greenhouse complexes necessary for this, which will meet international quality standards.
For this, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development allocated funds to the “Tudana” enterprise, which specializes in the production of various kinds of berries and fruit.
