Turkmenistan launched the registration of national observers
Four hundred and thirty-six observers representing the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Agrarian Party, public organizations, as well as citizens’ groups are registered within the framework of the ongoing socio-political campaign for the election of members of the Upper House (Halk Maslahaty) of the National Parliament (Milli Gengesh) of the country. Each observer who has received the appropriate certificate now has the right within his or her powers to monitor the electoral process. All who received the certificate, will be able to attend arranged training seminars, allowing to be acquainted with changes in the electoral legislation and future elections procedure. The observers will attend meetings of election commissions and other events related to the elections, monitor the preparation and conduction of this large-scale event in the country’s life, as well as monitor compliance with the electoral legislation of Turkmenistan during the pre-election process. On election day, their presence will be required when sealing the ballot boxes, during the voting process, the counting of votes, while determining the results of the elections and summing up the overall results. According to the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, the right of national election observers to oversee elections begins from the day of their registration and ends on the day of the official publication of the election results.
