President Berdimuhamedov meets with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi, who is in Ashgabat on a visit.
The diplomat conveyed the greetings of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Turkmen leader and noted the stable development of bilateral relations, the strategic nature of which was indicated at the highest level of leadership.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also conveyed through Wang Yi to President Xi Jinping congratulations on the recently celebrated 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party. He thanked China for its consistent support of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan and the international initiatives it has put forward.
According to the website of the PRC Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi spoke in favor of defining a comprehensive plan of cooperation for the next five years and said that China has always viewed cooperation with Turkmenistan in the field of natural gas as a long-term partnership and is ready to continue to be a reliable export market in this area.
At the same time, both sides spoke in favor of expanding cooperation in non-resource sectors, including in the spheres of information and communications, high technologies, healthcare, as well as in the field of regional security on the basis of a multilateral dialogue, including on the platform “Five Central Asian Countries + China".
