WHO expert group has arrived in China to investigate the origins of COVID-19

The WHO international expert group of representatives of the USA, Japan, Russia and other countries has arrived in the city of Wuhan for work with their Chinese colleagues over investigation of the origin and scientific research of COVID-19. Before a trip all members of team passed some tests for COVID in their countries. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Zhao Lijian stated that during a 14-day quarantine WHO experts will communicate through the video communication with the Chinese scientific and medical experts. To establish the origin of the novel COVID is very much a challenge. Though some of the very first infections COVID-19 have been noted in the market of seafood in Wuhan in December, 2019, according Gao Fu, Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the latest researches have specified in possibility of existence of the virus in long before the earliest cases of its transmission to humans were registered. Earlier the commission of WHO experts for investigation of the origin of the novel COVID visited China twice - in February and July, 2020 under the invitation of China. Both parties continued to communicate about the latest achievements in this direction. «The scientific data will promote promotion of hypotheses which become a basis for the further, long-term researches. It is important not only for COVID-19, but also for global safety in the field of public health services in the future», - WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
