Date of the 1st CIS Games 2021 in Kazan was announced

Kazan is to host the Games of the CIS countries in August-September 2021. It was announced by First Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Azat Kadyrov. - The Government supported the holding of the Games, but during consultations with colleague ministers from other countries and the Executive Committee of the CIS countries, the decision was taken to postpone the competitions. This is in order to make the Games a truly sporting event and not a planned measure, the official said. The Minister added that the final date for the Games will be set in March, following further talks with ministers from the CIS countries. He also reminded that the Special Olympics are to be held in the capital of Tatarstan in January 2022. It should be noted that according the plans for 2020 it teams of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine were to participate in the CIS Games in Kazan, a total of about 2500 athletes from 14 to 23 years of age, as well as about 1000 officials from 11 CIS countries.
